Is Facetune free?

Partly. Facetune is free to download and has some free features, but most of its tools, including its AI features, need a VIP subscription. That starts with a one-week free trial, and after it Facetune says continued access requires a subscription. Its own pricing page says plans start at $25 a month, $40 every 3 months or $77.99 a year when bought on facetuneapp.com, and that the final price may vary.

What Facetune costs

Facetune planStarts at, on facetuneapp.com
Monthly $25 a month
Quarterly $40 every 3 months
Yearly $77.99 a year

Facetune labels these "offers only for facetuneapp.com" and says the final price may vary, and each plan starts with the one-week free trial. The app bought through the App Store is priced differently: its US listing shows in-app purchases from $5.99 to $77.99, with names such as "Premium" and "Unlimited access" that do not say which is monthly and which is yearly. In the App Store, Apple shows the price in your own currency before you confirm, and that is the one you pay.

What is free in Facetune, and what is not

In Facetune's words, it "offers a mix of free features and advanced tools available through a VIP subscription". The plans on its pricing page list what they unlock, among them AI headshots, an AI clothes changer, AI beard filters, photo retouching, and virtual hair and nails. On watermarks, Facetune says it offers watermark-free editing for VIP users, and suggests upgrading to VIP to keep edits watermark-free.

How the free trial ends, and how to stop it

The trial unlocks every feature for one week. When it ends, the subscription continues and is charged unless you cancel. For a subscription bought in the App Store, Apple's steps on iPhone are: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap the subscription, then tap Cancel Subscription. Apple says to cancel a trial you do not want to renew at least 24 hours before it ends. A plan bought on Facetune's website is not billed by Apple, and for those Apple's page says to contact the company that bills you.

Free ways to retouch a photo on iPhone

The Photos app is free and already on the phone. It can brighten a dark photo with its Adjust controls, and on iPhones with Apple Intelligence its Clean Up tool can remove a spot. Apart from a Soft Skin style for photos taken on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, it has no tool for smoothing skin, and it has none for whitening only the teeth. The guides below show both ways for each job, including where Photos is enough:

Where PhotoTune fits

PhotoTune is not a free alternative. It has no free tier: every plan is a subscription that includes every tool, and the annual plan starts with a 3-day free trial, then $99.99 a year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. It is a narrower app than Facetune — iPhone only, photos only — built for retouching that keeps skin texture, with no one-tap face-shape controls and no watermark on any export. The Facetune alternative page compares the two, including where Facetune is the better choice, and pricing lists every plan.

Facetune details are from facetuneapp.com (its pricing page and home page FAQ) and its US App Store listing, checked 18 October 2026.
